BIOGRAPHY

 

Linh An is a New York-trained dancer-choreographer, currently based in Hanoi, Vietnam, whose choreographic works are largely influenced by Theatre Jazz style. Before pursuing professional dance training in New York at the age of 21, she graduated from the National Economics University of Vietnam with an Excellent Bachelor degree in Business English (minoring in Business Management).

During one year in the International Student Visa Dance Training Program in New York’s Premiere dance center – Broadway Dance Center, Linh was intensively trained in theatre jazz, street jazz, ballet, and tap by New York’s Broadway professionals including Tony-Award winners and nominees such as Chet Walker, A.C Ciulla; others are Diane Laurenson, Jill Kenney, Jason Wise, Josh Assor, Karla Puno Garcia, Khori Petinaud and many more. As a result, Broadway Dance Center has honored Linh the Outstanding Student Award for her consistent diligence in learning and creating within and outside of the program: A Broadway Jazz Dance Experience in Vietnam 2019, Table of Silence Project 2018, New York Choreographer’s Forum 2019, BDC’s Performance Project April 2019, BDC’s Professional Semester Dance Showcase 2019, BDC’s Student Showcase 2019, etc.

 

In 2020, Linh returned to Hanoi and had collaborated with national theaters such as the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet (‘Nhung nguoi khon kho’ the musical in Hanoi), the Youth Theater as a choreographer for musical and live event. Recently in 2022, Linh was amongst top 53 of Street Dance Vietnam on national television HTV7, taking Theatrical Dance styles to the biggest dance scene of street dancers in Vietnam. 

 

Linh's goal is to bring her signature Musical Theatre Dance style closer to Vietnam's dance & musical lover community, and making Jazz dance the bridge between the Eastern and Western communities in her home. And for this reason, Theatre Dance Vietnam (TDV) was born. With the generous support of her endearing friend Mr. Johnson Brock - TDV's co-founder, TDV had held a series of educational & performing arts events in both Vietnam & New York, most prominently: A Broadway Jazz Dance Experience 2019 in Hanoi, Dancing Through Virtual Dance Show 2020 in New York with the participation of both Vietnamese & New York/Broadway professional dance artists & choreographers.
